Who can attend
The track sessions, are by no means elitist, but they are not really suitable for new runners. You should have built up a good base of stamina and endurance before you start introducing spadework into your programme.
What we do
Sessions start with warm ups at 6.30pm. Please ensure that you have jogged 4 laps of the track prior to the warm-up session. Bring training kit suitable for the anticipated weather temperatures (don't forget that the temperature drops as the evening draws on) and water to drink.
Following the warm up we do a series of strides and session specific drills.
The sessions are generally based around 10k and half marathon specific speed work. Examples of sessions are -
400m relays X 5 at 80% pace, one lap walking and report 400m relays x 5
Pyramid sessions, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 800, 600, 400
200m relays for 10mins, rest 4 x 400m
The sessions change from week to week and we are always open to suggestions. Click here for a record of past track sessions.
